Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique keycase to mark the centennial of the company. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics
Bentley is a brand who takes its aesthetics seriously. This is evident in the precise placement of its quilting, the use of leather made from by-products of cattle and sustainable managed forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. When you drive by a car like the Continental GT W12, its sculptural beauty is displayed through carefully curated lighting.
The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever made. The rear tonneau, for instance, displayed the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to the production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Design

Function
The Bentley Mulsanne Key comes with two buttons one of which opens the trunk, and another that turns on the vehicle. The key also includes a switch to turn on the parking brake. Each key takes about two days to make. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, stitched after which it is sealed and polished to give a superior result. Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man-hours in order to create and assemble the average Mulsanne. The main reason for this lengthy effort is a reluctance to adopt the latest technology.
